Read p. 3 and continue to p. 13 on the PDF file. Although the article goes back a few years and is about an earlier film, it sounds like he may be using his experiences with Greenwood as part of How to Make a Movie. Could give us a better idea of the kind of independent film being made.

OK, so I lied. I keep finding interesting bits about this movie's brief history. I guess it had a slightly different cast attached and was scheduled to shoot in LA as a comedy in March 2008, but something happened to change it. Whatever it was, it caused a split between the writer and his company, as explained in this brief blog:

Also this week, US Operations Manager Blu de Golyer has left my production company Masterplan Film Productions Ltd and we will no longer be collaborating on the LA set feature HOW TO MAKE A MOVIE. I wish Blu the best of luck with his future projects.

So that probably explains the different direction the film seems to be taking now--in April, things started happening again with Masterplan but without Blu de Golyer. Although HTMAM is an independent (and probably lower-budget) film, it has a good pedigree and seems highly likely to be released within a short time frame. It also sounds like it would be the type of film likely to make it into festivals next year--all good news. Notice how it's also listed as an "action/comedy" now. You know, the politics and intrigue behind the making of this film would probably make a good script!

I wondered the same thing. Could be. Even though shooting doesn't start for a few months yet, they may have been casting him. Here's a blurb by the director from late last year. What's interesting is that the South American distribution rights have already been sold. Plus it's got UK and US distributors now. So even if the film doesn't get a wide release within a country, it's still being released about the same time globally, which is huge. It sounds like all involved are very serious about seeing this film be made and released. Yay! (BTW, Andrew Jones is on MySpace, too.)

Some news on the movie I'm doing in LA next year, HOW TO MAKE A MOVIE, for anyone that's interested... The producer has just agreed the first pre-sale deal for distribution of the film. Latin American TV Corp will release the movie across South America upon completion. Latin American TV Corp. is a US based distribution company with a successful track record distributing feature, studio and independent films throughout the South American market. With Paul Ben-Victor (http://imdb.com/name/nm0070115/) and David Hess (http://imdb.com/name/nm0381450/) already attached to the project we have just added another great name to the cast list... Rachel Miner (http://imdb.com/name/nm0001540/) has now come on board in the leading female role. She is best known for starring in Brian DePalma's 'The Black Dahlia' and Larry Clark's 'Bully'. She's a great actress and with 'Bully' being one of my favourite flicks it's a thrill to have her become attached to the film. Lots of other high profile actors are currently reading the script so we'll hopefully have more good news on attached cast coming soon.
